MLoYM Chapter 10 – White Lotus

Han Qingshan did not speak right after hearing what Jiang Yingyue had said. He pondered on his words and thought that they made sense. Nothing he said sounded unrealistic.

Those who were rich were often scared of losing what they had, always aiming for more and more, never satisfied, while many of the commoners knew that their lot in life was different, and thus they were mostly content with what they had.

“I quite like your way of thinking,” Han Qingshan said with a smile on his face. “Why not spend more time with me in order to enlighten me about the life of commoners? I am so used to the world of capitalists, so it would be quite interesting to see what the commoners experience. Maybe I can even improve my personality this way.”

“It is not really my responsibility to help you improve your personality,” Jiang Yingyue said with pursed lips and a slightly bewildered expression on her face. Were they not done with their discussion now? Had he not understood that she was basically saying that they were so fundamentally different because of their heritage?

Seeing her expression turn bewildered, a cunning flash flickered past Han Qingshan’s eyes. He did not know why, but he felt comfortable around this younger girl who seemingly did not like him.

She was not pretentious, nor was she flattering. She was completely honest and straightforward. She did not mask his thoughts at all, every cell in her being was shouting to leave her be, but it was impossible for Han Qingshan to leave her be now that she raised his interest.

Just as Jiang Yingyue was about to say that she was not willing to socialize with him, a few women came towards the table. Their bodies were dressed in brand name clothes of the most expensive kind, and those clothes accentuated their figures, making all of them seem very seductive, but in a more prudent way. They were not showing off a lot of skin, but the figure-wrapping clothes were not leaving much to the imagination.

“Young Master Shan,” a purring voice could be heard as the woman walking in front stepped towards them.

Her eyes were focused on Han Qingshan as if she did not even notice Jiang Yingyue, who was sitting across from him, and without even asking for permission, she slipped onto the chair next to Han Qingshan and wrapped her arms around his.

Seeing the girl, a bit of annoyance was evident on Han Qingshan’s face, and he released his arm from her grip before he glanced at Jiang Yingyue, who was just casually observing what was happening in front of her with interest.

For some unknown reason, he felt rather bad about being so close to the woman when he was in front of Jiang Yingyue, but he figured that it was because he did not want this young woman to misunderstand him as one of those rich young masters that used money to solve every issue; that he was not one of the stuck up arrogant men from high society.

“He Yuyan, please behave!” Han Qingshan said with a bit of impatience in his voice.

“Young Master Shan, I am just so happy to have met you today, why don’t we spend some time together?” the woman who was named He Yuyan asked, her voice filled with seduction. Han Qingshan was used to women behaving like this so it made no impact on him.

He had known He Yuyan for many years, as the He family was also in the upper layers of society, but he had never paid her much attention. She was not his type at all, and even now when she was purring in his ear, he only felt annoyance towards her.

“He Yuyan, I was busy conversing with my good friend here, and I have yet to settle with you about interrupting me. Now you want me to ditch him? You have not even glanced at or greeted him yet; is this how you were brought up?” Han Qingshan was rather indignant when he heard her speak, and he could not help but scold her.

As expected, He Yuyan could not handle the scolding. Tears welled up in her eyes. Then she glared fiercely at Jiang Yingyue.

“His clothes are shabby and his hair is a mess. He might be pretty, but he is clearly a commoner. Why spend your time on someone that can’t be of help to you at all?” she asked, with disgust in her voice. She had not spoken softly at all, and many started stealing glances at their table.

Jiang Yingyue wanted to applaud this He Yuyan. The very things she had thought herself and mentioned to Han Qingshan were now being said out loud.

Shockingly enough, when the words escaped He Yuyan’s mouth, the expression on Han Qingshan’s face turned solemn and cold.

Everyone knew that Han Qingshan usually had a good temper, but they knew even better that touching his bottom line would transform him into a demon.

This He Yuyan had touched his bottom line. Sensing the air temperature suddenly dropping and seeing the cold expression on Han Qingshan’s face, not only was He Yuyan shocked, so was Jiang Yingyue.

The two of them could not be considered friends or even acquaintances. They had only met twice so far; the first time when she almost lost her life and then now.

It did not make sense for Han Qingshan to become so upset on her behalf, but it proved that reality was different from what she had expected. The young master was indeed upset on her behalf.

“Young… Young Master Shan, please forgive me.” He Yuyan seemed to understand that she had indeed gone overboard, but although she was pleading for forgiveness, she did not forget to send a deathly glare towards Jiang Yingyue.

Her demeanor seemed to say that she was only being admonished because of Jiang Yingyue and that if she had behaved, nothing like this would have happened.

Feeling slightly wronged, Jiang Yingyue took the fork and placed some of the strawberry cheesecake within her mouth while quietly observing the scene play out in front of her.

He Yuyan had tears in her eyes. Her sidekicks finally started talking.

“Young Master, Miss He meant no harm. She was just surprised to see you with a commoner,” one of them said in an attempt to defuse the situation.
