PCS chapter 24 – The Day of the Auction
[Previous Chapter] [Next Chapter]
Qin Meixing stopped spending time worrying about Qin Chanjuan’s predicament after hearing that everyone scorned her, so she returned to her courtyard where she began cultivating.
She was far behind her peers when it came to cultivating, and she knew that if she wanted to have a chance to catch up she could not waste her time.
Fortunately, the Heavenly Jade Physique truly lived up to its name; it really was a heavenly physique, especially when connected with the Heavenly Jade Technique.
She was able to advance by leaps and bounds without worrying about her foundations being sturdy enough. The energy was so pure, and the foundation she was creating was so solid, that everyone else would be jealous of her.
Like this, the days passed one after another. Qin Chanjian was still being ridiculed but not as often, as a new topic had started to spread in the Imperial Capital.
A female alchemist had appeared with an, to this date, unknown medicinal pill called the Monarch Cleansing Pill.
Many were confused and began to think that it was too good to be true when they heard what it was capable of doing; but after hearing that, Xuanyuan Yunshen personally guaranteed the effectiveness.
The Golden Hall Auction House had spread the news far and wide. Many came to the Imperial Capital to get their hands on these pills; massive flying eagles and other beasts came with nobles and royals from the bordering empires, and luxurious carriages were entering the city daily.
But all of this was unseen by Qin Meixing. She was entirely focused on cultivating, and after spending all her time on it, she managed to break into the second layer of the Body Tempering Realm after only five days.
Although the second layer of the Body Tempering Stage was not high, one had to remember that her cousin, Qin Chanjuan, had been cultivating since she was ten, but she was merely at the third stage. Each advance was progressively more difficult, and the second layer in only five days was simply unheard of.
Finally, the day of the auction arrived, and Qin Meixing strode out of the manor, but instead of heading directly for the auction house she instead went to the backdoor of the tea house where she entered; after flashing her token she was taken to the Cloud God’s personal chambers.
Xuanyuan Yunshen was not present, and Qin Meixing found a black dress in her qiankun bag, alongside a black veil.
She quickly changed her clothes and put the veil on her face before her original clothes entered her bag. She then exited the tea house and walked towards the Golden Hall Auction House with elegant and confident steps.
She stopped in front of the building; a long queue was waiting to enter, and she could not help but frown. She was not sure what to do. She could buy a normal entrance ticket, but if she did not find Xuanyuan Yunshen then she would have trouble after the auction ended, and she wanted to pick up the reward.
As she was standing still and mulling over her options, a luxurious carriage came towards the auction house. It stopped next to Qin Meixing, and a noble young man stepped out. Looking at him, Qin Meixing’s memories instantly informed her that this was the Crown Prince.
But she had no interest in this man and instantly looked back at the queue, her eyes squinted, and her head cocked to the side.
“Young lady,” the Crown Prince looked at Qin Meixing. There was a strange allure over this woman, who had hidden her face. He, a man who was used to picking up concubines everywhere, was instantly attracted to her.
Qin Meixing saw that he had called out to her, and she frowned as she turned around. “Yes?” she asked, her ethereal voice so soft and comfortable to listen to that the Crown Prince felt goosebumps. He genuinely wanted to see what this woman looked like under the veil.
“I guess you are here for the auction?” he asked with a friendly smile on his face, and Qin Meixing, who was still busy looking all around herself in an attempt at spotting Xuanyuan Yunshen, nodded her head.
“Why don’t you come with me?” he asked. “I am this Empire’s Crown Prince; I have a private room prepared for myself… Why don’t you share it with me?”
Hearing his words, Qin Meixing could not help but be slightly disgusted. They did not know each other, but he still wanted them to share a room. It was somewhat scandalous.
“Sorry,” Qin Meixing looked at the Crown Prince and smiled, but her smile could not be seen as the veil hid her face.
“I am waiting for my fiancé,” she continued, and as she spoke she suddenly felt an arm wrap itself around her waist, and a familiar minty scent invaded her senses.
“Dearest, did you wait long?” the low and attractive voice of Xuanyuan Yunshen sounded in Qin Meixing’s ears, and she flushed red as she remembered what she had just called him.
The Crown Prince was stunned when he saw the appearance of the man whom she called her fiancé. His face paled, and his body trembled.
He knew that even his father had to be extremely polite to this man, so who was he to try and hit on his fiancé?
“No, I just arrived,” Qin Meixing answered. Her voice was soft and sweet, like a little girl who had just been embarrassed, and it made all the men present feel their hearts soften into puddles.
