Xuanyuan Yunshen was now used to Qin Meixing suddenly becoming absentminded. It was not as if she lost focus on what was happening around her. Instead, it was more like someone was talking to her, and she was replying.

However, he never heard any voices, and he could not help but feel strangely confused.

He was quite sure that Qin Meixing did not suffer from a mental disorder that made her hear voices, so maybe she had a soul contract with an animal and was communicating with a spirit beast?

Although almost no one in the Xiyang Empire knew of spirit beasts, Xuanyuan Yunshen felt that this was the most likely explanation, and he was quite curious as to which beast she had acquired a soul contract with.

Qin Meixing was unaware that the Primeval Chaos System in her hands had been confused as being a spirit beast, but if she knew his thoughts, she would have felt relieved.

If he had thought that she was insane, she would likely be locked up somewhere unable to continue her life as she had lived it thus far.

A spirit beast was actually much more dangerous because many would kill for the sake of taking it over.

But Xuanyuan Yunshen already had a spirit beast of his own and was not interested in Qin Meixing’s beast. Although one could contract with more than one spirit beast, he found her worth much higher than that of an unknown spirit beast.

Qin Meixing was thinking about the man who was searching for her, and she was also thinking about the Primeval Chaos System’s ability to sense when someone had a strong urge to find her. At the same time, Xuanyuan Yunshen was thinking about her and her many secrets.

The two of them each took a sip from their individual cups of tea, one looking out the windows with slightly narrowed eyes, while the other observed the woman in front of him.

They both enjoyed the tranquility, but they knew that they would have to return to their busy days soon.

Qin Meixing was aware that when she returned to the Qin manor she would have to prepare for the drafting feast at the royal house.

She knew that she had to go, but she was also very self-conscious about the fact that she would never be picked to become the crown prince’s consort.

In truth, she was unwilling to become the crown prince’s consort anyway; she was happy with her low-key life while she continued cultivating.

Xuanyuan Yunshen looked at Qin Meixing and saw that she was once again entirely focused on what was happening outside the window. She looked at the people walking up and down the road, and she saw a young man dressed in white clothes asking the pedestrians questions.

She did not know what he was asking, but he seemed rather rushed, and when people saw him there was surprise in their eyes, as if he should not be there.

It did not take her long to realize that this was likely the Baili Beichen that she had heard about. He was looking for someone urgently, and he did not even care about the fact that he had just been healed.

Shaking her head in regret, Qin Meixing did nothing to draw his attention. Instead, she drew back her gaze and looked at the man in front of her.

The Cloud God was, without a doubt, the most attractive person she had ever seen. He held a slight smile at the corner of his mouth, and he seemed to be in a great mood.

“Do you like what you see?” he asked treacherously, as he saw that she was observing him. But contrary to his expectations, Qin Meixing did not blush; she just smiled wryly and shook her head.

“You are indeed very handsome,” she answered without shyness. It was as if she had praised the weather, making Xuanyuan Yunshen feel slightly deflated.

“I am going to buy a pill cauldron,” Qin Meixing said after finishing her tea. “Do you want to come with me?”

Xuanyuan Yunshen smiled brilliantly when he heard her invitation and nodded his head. He was indeed very eager to come with her to shop for a pill cauldron.

The reason that Qin Meixing asked him to come with her was quite simple. Once upon a time, no one knew who she was when she was wearing a veil, but now everyone knew that the Cloud God’s fiancé wore a veil, and unfortunately, some might remember that so did the miss from the Qin family; she was not willing to be recognized.

Hence, it was better to walk there under high fanfare, letting everyone see that it was the fiancé who had come to buy a pill furnace.

She draped the veil on her face, leaving only her eyes visible, and then the two of them descended from the staircase and began walking towards the Hundred Herb Hall.

Only a short time ago Baili Beichen had been on the road asking if anyone had seen Xuanyuan Yunshen or his fiancé, but he had only walked three streets away when he heard that they had been spotted and that they were on their way to the Hundred Herb Hall.

Hearing this, Baili Beichen did not hesitate and rushed towards the shop. He had no ulterior motives; he just wanted to show his gratitude to the woman who had saved him.

Qin Meixing was aware that her movements would cause many to notice her, but as long as she had the veil over her face no one would know who she was, and thus, she did not care about the waves she was stirring. In the end, the one who had to deal with it all would be Xuanyuan Yunshen.
